Why is there so much controversy with this? So what if he mentions God or Jesus in the prayer? The freedom of religion is not freedom from religion, it is the right to practice your religion without persecution, and the right to not believe in other religions. I just don’t see the big deal, we all have the right to be offended but not the right to interfere with someone elses rights as long as that practice is legal and not harming others. So would it be wrong if he was Jewish and had a Rabbi do the prayer? Again, just don’t see the big problem.

Based on what I’ve read, McCain had a collection of sound bites that sounded good, but didn’t really answer questions, merely sounded like answering questions when done with a bravado. Plus McCain had the advantage of going 2nd, a big advantage in this setting, as he could have a better anticipation of the questions to be asked
